You can add, edit, assign, and reassign labels to emails in the global inbox. All updates made to email labels in the global inbox automatically update and reflect on your Gmail account.
Assign and Unassign Email Labels
1. Click on Inbox on the global navigation bar.
2. Open a relevant email from your inbox.
3. Click on the Add label icon on the quick actions menu.
4. Click on the checkbox in line with each label you want to assign to the email.
- Green checkboxes indicate an assigned label and grey checkboxes indicate an unassigned label.
- You can assign as many labels as you desire. If no labels are selected, the email will default to show up under Inbox and All Mail.
5. Click Done.
Your labels will be assigned in the Global Inbox and in Gmail.
Add New Labels in the Global Inbox
1. Click on Inbox on the global navigation bar.
2. Select an email from your inbox to open.
3. Click on the Add label icon.
4. Click Add new label at the bottom of the pop-out menu.
5. Input a New label name in the provided text box.
6. Click Save new label.
- Alternatively, you can press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
- The label will be added to the list of available labels.
Edit Labels in the Global Inbox
1. Click on Inbox on the global navigation bar.
2. Select an email from your inbox to open.
3. Click on the Add label icon.
4. Click on the Pencil icon in the pop-out menu.
5. On the Edit Email Labels pop-out, click the Pencil icon in line with the label you want to edit.
6. Make any necessary changes in the provided text box.
7. Click the in-line Save icon to save your changes.
8. Click Finish to close the Edit Email Labels modal.
Filter the Global Inbox by Label
1. Navigate to the global inbox using the global navigation bar.
2. Click on the inbox dropdown menu.
3. Scroll to the bottom and select from any of your created labels.
All emails assigned to that label will load.
