A survey can only be sent after an engagement has been created. For help, refer to the Creating Engagements article. This article will cover 2 sections:

Creating a New Survey
Permissions and Licenses Required
- License: Tax Resolution
- Permissions: Access to the contact
To get started, click on a contact in Canopy.
- On the left side of your client’s Engagements screen, click Client Survey in the Work column.
- On the Client Survey screen, click Send to your client.
- In the Client Portal window, click the checkbox in-line with your client’s name and contact information.
- If you wish to send the client survey to an email address not listed, type it in the Enter the email of a new person textbox.
- Scroll down to review the email Canopy will send to your client. Then click Send invite.
- The Client Portal window will close.
- A notification will load letting you know that Your survey was sent!
- Click View survey to see your client’s progress on the survey.

Including Non-Liable Spouse Information on the Client Survey
Permissions and Licenses Required

- Permissions: Access to the contact
To get started, the individual filling out the Client Survey - it can be you or your client - will open the Client Survey in Canopy.
- If the spouse is not liable, the client will select No.
- Once No is checked, additional fields will appear.
- If the spouse earns a separate income, click Yes in answer to Does non-liable spouse have income?. If the spouse does not earn a separate income, click No.
- If Yes is selected, additional fields will load. The client will need to fill out all applicable financial information about the non-liable spouse, including the contributions joint household costs.
- The client will fill out the non-liable spouse’s contact information and then click Next Section to continue completing the client survey.
- The information from the client survey will auto-populate in the source form.
Viewing Client Survey Results

- Permissions: Access to the contact
The survey must be completed for you to view complete results. To get started, click Engagements in Canopy.
- Click on the Engagement you want to review.
- Click on the Engagement Name.
- Click Client Survey in the Work column.
- On the Client Survey screen, click through each section to view your client’s responses.
- To view additional options on survey data and access, click Survey Options.
